Dark Energy

Dark energy is an unknown form of energy present in the space. Till 1990 the general belief amongst space scientists was that the universe is expanding, but the rate of expansion is slowing down with time due to the force of gravity. However, in 1998, the famous Hubble Space Telescope observed a faraway supernova whose characteristics showed that the universe was actually expanding faster now. This observation changed the prevailing theory completely. Now if the universe is expanding there should be some kind of force causing this. The scientist called it as the Dark Energy. 70 per cent of the universe is made up of this dark energy. The acceleration is simply a function of dark energy density. Dark energy is persistent.

Dad’s Blessings

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study room. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man’s name embossed in gold. Angry, he raised his voice to his father and said “With all your money, you give me a Bible?” and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible. Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father’s house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father’s important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. And as he did, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words ‘PAID IN FULL’.

Global Warming

Global warming is the steady and continuous rise in the level of earth temperature. Global warming has become the most worrying threat for the earth’s atmosphere as it is reducing the life possibilities on the earth day by day through a continuous and steady declining process. The earth has been involved in a warming trend for the past 100,000 years with a few exceptions. Humans have contributed to this warming trend, but are NOT the sole source of it. It is as inevitable as the sun rising and setting. The Sahara Desert at one time in history was a fertile plain, so this is evidently not the first time that warming has happened. The biggest problem is that global warming has been politicized, making clean scientific study an near impossilibity. Human nature, being what it is, has caused many scientists to seek financial gain from this issue. Instead of issuing blanket statements that humans are 90% at fault for global warming, science should be looking for resolutions rather than laying its effects. If solutions are not to be sought, we should be making preparations. What global warming comes down to is change. Change in where we live and how we live is never easy, and societies will exterminate themselves trying to maintain their way of life.

MY MOTHER

My Mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart.
She planted all the good things
that gave my life it’s start.
She turned me to the sunshine,
and encouraged me to dream.
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem.
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough.
But not too much because she knew
I’d need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong.
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother’s garden.
I am her legacy.
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me

WE LIVE TO CHERISH

My Mother kept a garden,

 Once there was a boy,

who had a very good toy.

It was a robot.

If you press a button,

It would talk a lot.

It can throw blades from its chest,

To chimney where the birds made  their nest.

It was bald and big,

and wore a glass and a wig.

It would think everyone as its prey,

Seeing this everyone would start to pray.

The robot’s name was frank,

The main thing what it would do is to prank.

If you remove its batteries,

It would freeze.

The boy will happily take this,

All the people over there will be on bliss.

The boy would take it and keep it in the hall,

From there it would be end of the day call.
